Welcome to Fables of Alaemyr! We are an actual play D&D troupe that uses VTube technology to enhance the gameplay experience.
Like many D&D games, Fables of Alaemyr got its start via an online gaming group in mid-2020. Our entrepreneurial GM, Jay, finally decided to write down all the ideas he’d had floating in his head for a decade and test the mettle of some of his good friends by throwing them into his homebrew setting. Though the story started loosely and the group of players shifted around, it became clear after a few weeks that several of them were in for the long haul. Jay soon realized that he often just got to sit back and listen to his players talk to each other in character for good chunks of each session. He thought our story was worth putting on the internet for anyone else who might enjoy listening to it... so here it is!
Fables of Alaemyr is set in Jay’s homebrew world of, well, Alaemyr. Though mostly reflective of a traditional medieval fantasy D&D setting, Alaemyr has some grit in its teeth and a flair for the dramatic.
Virtual Tubing (“tubing” like TV or YouTube), aka VTubing, is the use of motion capture during livestreaming to have a digital avatar copy the movements of the streamer. The streamer uses a digital software such as Animaze, VTube Studio, or Live3D to take their avatar and do pretty much anything with it they could on a regular stream.
